Royal Bed. African Bed. Royal Bamileke Art Bed Carved from One Piece of Wood. No nails or glue had been used. Bed created in Cameron. It has 210 Heads Carved. There are 105 heads carved on one side of a bed and another 105 on the other side. The entire bed has a raised rim on the top. The top is decorated with sculpted three water buffalo heads.
Bamileke African royal bed. Ceremonial bed made from a single piece of wood, with intricate carvings of human faces & animals. Most Bamileke art from Cameroon relates to kings and important chiefs, who defined their power by the display of precious objects during ceremonies. Beds were among the most important of these objects. This amazing antique piece of art is in a very good condition. There is only a very small crack at the bottom, practically invisible. Some dust deeply in crevasses.
